Greenleaf Primary School & Nursery

Pupil Voice and Leadership

Article 12 in The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that, ‘Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously’ (UNICEF)

At Greenleaf Primary School, we value every child’s voice and ensure pupils have regular opportunities to share their ideas and opinions. Through methods such as School Council, surveys, learning walks and suggestion boxes, children actively contribute to school improvement and see how their input leads to real change.

We also promote strong pupil leadership, giving children meaningful roles and responsibilities that help develop their communication, organisation and confidence. Through these opportunities, pupils grow into articulate, responsible leaders, prepared for future challenges and real-life situations.

Here are the following roles we have in our school:

  • House Captains
  • School Council
  • Digital Leaders
  • Rights Respecting Ambassadors
  • Playground Leaders
  • OPAL Play Detectives
  • Eco-Club Leaders
  • Reading Buddies
  • Lunchtime Leaders
