Uniform

We believe that the wearing of a school uniform enables children to identify with their school, gives a sense of belonging, is practical and smart, reinforces a positive work ethos and reduces expenditure for parents and carers.

All children (except Nursery) must wear their school uniform when attending school.

Aims

To ensure all pupils have equal access to wearing school uniform regardless of their culture, race, religion, gender, disability.

OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning)

We are an OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) school, and we encourage all children to come to school dressed for active, outdoor play every day.

OPAL playtimes give children the opportunity to be creative, physical, and adventurous. This means they may be climbing, building, running, digging, or exploring in all weathers. Our uniform supports active play so that children are comfortable and ready to learn and play.

Our Uniform is:

Green sweatshirt/cardigan or fleece (school logo optional)
Plain white or green polo top (school logo optional)
Trousers, pinafore dress or skirt of a single colour (black or grey)
Black or dark grey joggers
Black leggings
Headscarves in a single colour (green, grey, black or white)
Footwear: Black or White Trainers.

Summer Uniform is Optional

Green and white checked dress
Black or grey shorts
Summer hat
Footwear: Black or White Trainers. Children should not be wearing sandals.

Open-toe, platform soles, high heels or strapless shoes not allowed

Please clearly label all items of your child’s clothing and regularly check that the name has not come off in the wash.

PE kit

Children attend school wearing their PE kits on their designated PE days. PE kit should not have logos or brands.

Plain White T-shirt

Black joggers and black sweatshirt during colder weather

Jewellery

Due to Health and Safety, the school enforces a strict jewellery code. The only items of jewellery that can be worn are small studs and a watch (no smart watch). Children are required to remove any item of jewellery worn during P.E. lessons to prevent them from causing injury to themselves and others.

All of the above uniform items can be purchased from local supermarkets, which helps to keep our uniform affordable for all our families.

Support with Uniform

We have many school uniform items that are donated to the school. Please contact the school office if you would like support with the school uniform.

Pre-loved School Uniform

During the school year, our PTA hold uniform sales where you can purchase good quality pre-loved school uniform. Please look out for these dates in our school newsletters.

The Role of Parents

We believe it is the responsibility of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and PE kit, and that it is clean, in good repair and that the child’s name is visibly labelled on all items. If a parent has difficulty providing their child with a school uniform, they can speak confidentially to a senior member of staff to discuss their concerns.

The Role of the Governing Board

The Governing Board supports the Head Teacher in implementing the school uniform policy. It considers all representations from parents regarding the uniform policy and liaises with the headteacher to ensure that the policy is implemented fairly and with sensitivity. It is the governors’ responsibility to ensure that the school uniform meets all regulations.

The Governing Board will review this policy and make sure that it:

Is appropriate for our school’s context
Is implemented fairly across the school
Takes into account the views of parents/carers, and pupils
Offers a uniform that is appropriate, practical and safe for all pupils

The board will also make sure that the school’s uniform supplier arrangements give the highest priority to cost and value for money, for example by avoiding single-supplier contracts and by re-tendering contracts at least every 5 years.
